Speakers:
•Etienne Douglas
Etienne is the Library Technology Program Coordinator for the Marin County Free Library and the director of the Maker Space in Marin City.
He has mentored and taught over 25 high school age students from Marin in website creation, video editing, workplace skills, advanced computer skills, and college preparation. In Marin City Etienne has established THE LAB, a maker-space with sophisticated emerging tech, to teach technology skills to underserved communities.
Etienne has provided IT support, website development, and consulting throughout the Bay Area since 1999. He has worked with the Marin non-profit community tirelessly to provide equal access to technology for all. He served as president of the Canal Welcome Center for 6 years, which provided resources and social justice to the immigrant community in Marin. Etienne’s passion is for people to realize their potential and how technology today is essential to meet that goal.
•June Farmer
June Farmer, a long-time resident of Marin City, believes strongly in community engagement and empowerment. Her work emphasizes community leadership in designing solutions to resiliency issues. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Marin City Wellness Center and the GGV Resident Council, as well as volunteering for community organizations. Ms. Farmer will discuss the daunting technology challenges of living in Marin City.
