Internalized Racism- Community Forum
Explicit Bias & Internalized Racism: Uncovering, Discovering, Discarding
The community is invited to experience honest and open conversations on the subject of our internalized racism. Living in Marin. we like to think that racism doesn't exist, especially in our own hearts and minds, but the reality is, it does. Whether we are liberal or conservative; democrat or republican; rich or poor; black or white; each of us has some level of internal racial bias we carry around with us. Acknowledging these biases isn't meant to create guilt in anyway, it's meant to be transparent to ourselves, so that we can create real change in our world.
Some of the self-reflection questions of the night will be:
-What personal and systemic biases affect how you view others and yourself?
-How do they influence what you do and how you have lived your life?
Forum speakers will look both inward and outward to identify underlying racism and other “’isms” in ALL of us.
